Hellbilly Deluxe (sometimes referred to by its full title Hellbilly Deluxe: 13 Tales Of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside The Spookshow International) is the debut solo album by the former White Zombie singer Rob Zombie, released on Geffen Records August 25, 1998. It was recorded at the Chop Shop in Hollywood, California and was produced by both Rob Zombie and Scott Humphrey. The album's title is a play on the Dwight Yoakam album Hillbilly Deluxe. Zombie's debut effort met with considerable success, peaking at #5 on the Billboard 200 album chart, and featured songs that would go on to become fan favorites, in particular, "Dragula" and "Living Dead Girl."
The album's song titles and the art of the label and lyric book bespeak Zombie's fascination with classic horror films and tropes. The album was re-released in 2005 with a DVD
containing a music video for every song as well as brand-new artwork.
While Zombie directed the music videos, some fans showed disliking for
the artwork by Austrian chef Jörg Fercher, in which Zombie took no part.
The album features the heavy guitar/bass and twisted, often violent horror themes of White Zombie,
but it also reveals elements unique to Rob Zombie's solo career. For
example, songs often feature a more danceable groove and electronic
sounds/vocal overdubbing. In October 1999, Rob Zombie released a Hellbilly Deluxe remix album, American Made Music to Strip By.
On September 14, 2009 it was announced that Rob Zombie would embark
on the Hellbilly Deluxe 2 Tour, which is in support of his 2010 album "Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls and the Systematic Dehumanization of Cool" which is stated to be a companion to the original album as per his website.
"Living Dead Girl" is named after a film by Jean Rollin titled "La
Morte vivante" (or "The Living Dead Girl" in english) from 1982. The
opening line "Who is this irresistible creature who has an insatiable
love for the dead?" is taken from the trailer to "La Figlia di
Frankenstein" (or "Lady Frankenstein" in english) from 1971. The
musicvideo for the song (directed by Rob Zombie) is based on the 1920
silent film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" and had Rob Zombie playing
the role of Caligari and Sheri Moon as the living dead girl.

The song was used in American version of Gran Turismo 2
The PlayStation game Sled Storm used the Hot Rod Herman remix of "Dragula" during the intro, it was also part of the game soundtrack.
"Superbeast", "Dragula" and "Meet the Creeper" are featured in the video game Twisted Metal 3.
"Living Dead Girl" was used in the opening credits for 1998's Bride of Chucky.
"Spookshow Baby" was featured in the 1998 horror movie Urban Legend.
"Demonoid Phenomenon" and several other tracks from the album were used in the videogame Nightmare Creatures II in 2000, "Demonoid Phenomenon" being used for the game's opening cinematic.
In the Malcolm In The Middle episode "Home Alone 4", Richie is seen wearing a Hellbilly Deluxe T-shirt.
"Superbeast" is part of the soundtrack in the game Brütal Legend.
"Dragula" and "Superbeast" were released as downloadable content on October 27, 2009 for the Rock Band series.
"Dragula" was played in the background of a spring break scene in the show King of the Hill.

The Sinister Urge is the second solo studio album (excluding the remix album American Made Music to Strip By) by the former White Zombie singer Rob Zombie, released by Geffen Records on November 13, 2001. It was recorded at the Chop Shop in Hollywood, California and was produced by both Rob Zombie and Scott Humphrey. The album was named after the 1961 Ed Wood film The Sinister Urge.
The Sinister Urge debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 album chart, becoming Zombie's second of four Top 10 albums.
The album features a more experimental air than Zombie's intense debut, Hellbilly Deluxe.
While it didn't take Zombie in a completely different direction, it
incorporated various elements not previously used in his music, such as
the horns on "(Go to) California" and turntables
used on almost half the album. Various songs, such as the
aforementioned track, favor calmer melodies over the brutal guitars
heard on his previous album, although they are still evident in songs
like "Feel So Numb" and "Scum of the Earth." This experimental trend would continue on Zombie's 2006 follow-up, Educated Horses.
"Iron Head" features a guest vocal from Ozzy Osbourne; "Dead Girl Superstar" contains an additional guitar solo played by Kerry King of the thrash metal band Slayer. All lyrics written by Rob Zombie, all music composed by Rob Zombie and Scott Humphrey, except "Iron Head" by Rob Zombie, Scott Humphrey and Mike Riggs. Rob Zombie's guitarist Riggs and drummer John Tempesta
later formed a new band with the same name as the song: "Scum Of The
Earth".
Other media:
WWE superstar Edge used "Never Gonna Stop (The Red Red Kroovy)",as his entrance theme from 2001-2003. The Black Cat Crossing Mix appeared on WWE Forcable Entry, but was never used on television.
"Feel So Numb" was used as the theme song for WWE's No Way Out pay-per-view and WWE diva Linda Miles in 2002.
"Bring Her Down (To Crippletown)" appears in the movie Dark World: Duel of the Assassins.
"Feel So Numb" and "Demon Speeding" both appear in the Bugbear racing game Flatout 2.
"Iron Head" appeared on the soundtrack to "The Scorpion King".
Before the release of The Sinister Urge,"Scum of the Earth" was
released on the soundtrack for "MI-2" (Mission Impossible II) and as a
promo single. The song can also be heard in the movie.

Educated Horses is the third album by Rob Zombie, released by Geffen Records on March 28, 2006. A streaming "listening party" was held on MP3.com starting March 22, 2006, which caused advance copies to spread throughout P2P software programs. It was recorded at the Chop Shop in Hollywood, California.
In response to questions about what the album's title means, Rob Zombie said: "It was a weird kind of phrase, like, that I remembered as something
as a kid. You know, my parents, my grandparents, my aunts and uncles,
the whole family, were involved in carnival business and, like, circus
business, so as a kid, we would get dragged to these things, and we'd
have to spend all this time there. And that was just one of the
attractions I remember, what they would call the trained animals, you
know, educated horses."
Educated Horses can be described as Zombie's most experimental album to date. Writing for Rob Zombie for the first time, John 5
experimented with a number of acoustics, which can be heard on tracks
such as "Sawdust in the Blood" and "Death of It All". Rob's vocals are
less gruff on this album; instead he sings in a more sensual manner. "Foxy Foxy"
is the most mainstream and "party-going" song that he has written yet,
and its music video shows many attractive girls, including his wife Sheri Moon,
dancing to the song. Yet the album still contains his signature horror
tastes. "17 Year Locust" and "The Scorpion Sleeps" were both written
about creepy-crawlies. The introductory track "Sawdust In The Blood" is a recreation (and modification) of Brad Fiedel's instrumental piece "'Trust Me'", featured in the film Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Rob Zombie has stated that the album had influences from glam rock artists like Slade, T. Rex, and Gary Glitter.
Zombie directed music videos for "Foxy Foxy" and "American Witch". Artist and animator David Hartman created two animated music videos, for "American Witch" and "The Lords of Salem".
Other media:
"Let It All Bleed Out" was used on the game Scarface: The World is Yours by Radical Entertainment.
"Foxy Foxy" was featured on the April 13, 2006, episode of The O.C., "The Dawn Patrol".
"Foxy Foxy" was also used for Candice Michelle's Playboy cover Unveiling on an episode of WWE Monday Night RAW.
"Let it all Bleed Out" was used on the game "Scarface: The World is Yours"
"Sawdust in the Blood" appears on the 2007 Halloween Soundtrack.
"Foxy Foxy" was on the April 13, 2006 episode of The OC.
"Sawdust in the Blood" is a recreation of Brad Fiedel's piece "Trust Me", features in the Terminator 2 film.
"American Witch" has been featured twice on NCIS.
"Lords of Salem" appears in the movie "The Covenant"
Reception:
The album debuted at number five on the U.S. Billboard 200, Zombie's highest chart position since Hellbilly Deluxe, selling about 120,000 copies in its first week. It also debuted at number one on Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart. In its second week it dropped to number fourteen, selling a further 46,720 copies.
The song "The Lords of Salem" was nominated for the Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance of 2008.
Christian Hoard of Rolling Stone magazine had this to say:"A handful of cuts are too long on sludgy instrumental grooves, but whether Zombie is out-Trent Reznoring Trent Reznor on the sitar-laden
grindfest "17 Year Locust" or spitting fire amid the apocalyptic blues
riffs of "The Devil's Rejects," he sounds like a gifted schlockmeister
that Strokes fans can enjoy. Or at least tolerate."
Allmusic rated this album 3.5 stars (out of 5). Entertainment Weekly gave it a C+ grade. Rolling Stone magazine gave it 3 stars (out of 5).

Hellbilly Deluxe 2: Noble Jackals, Penny Dreadfuls and the Systematic Dehumanization of Cool (shortened to Hellbilly Deluxe 2) is the fourth solo studio album by former White Zombie frontman Rob Zombie. The album is a companion to Rob Zombie's debut album Hellbilly Deluxe. It was released on February 2, 2010, through Roadrunner Records. It debuted at # 8 on the Billboard Top 100. The album was produced by Rob Zombie, all music by Rob Zombie and John 5.
Rob Zombie had finished recording the album before the end of 2008,
but the release had been delayed until November 2009 due to his
commitments with Halloween II,
and again until February 2010 due to a lack of promotion. According to
Rob Zombie, there was not enough time to release advance copies to the
press or create a music video for the first single, "What?," before
their tour. Though originally intended to be released through Geffen Records, Zombie's record label of 18 years starting with White Zombie, the album was released through Roadrunner Records/Loud & Proud Records.
Hellbilly Deluxe 2 is also the first release where Rob Zombie
worked with his full touring band. Previous albums were written and
recorded by Rob Zombie himself and a rotating set of musicians. Commenting on the change, Zombie stated, "I've always had a revolving
roster of studio and touring musicians, but the three guys in my band
now have been on tour with me for years. So we're making it as a band.
It's called Rob Zombie, but we're treating it like a band."
Due to the recent decline in physical CD sales and increase in digital downloads, Hellbilly Deluxe 2
may be the last CD released by Rob Zombie. Zombie called the CD format
"dead" and stated "all you will have left is digital downloads." As a
result of this belief, the artwork featured on the CD release of Hellbilly Deluxe 2 is said to be "the best yet." Rob Zombie has enlisted the help of artists Dan Brereton (creator of Nocturnals), Alex Horley (of Image Comics and DC Comics) and David Hartman (storyboard artist) to create the album artwork.British dark/steampunk artist Sam Shearon (artwork for Godhead's At the Edge of the World and tour merchandise for Iron Maiden and HIM) will also contribute to the artwork of Hellbilly Deluxe 2.
Rob Zombie began touring in support of the new album shortly before its release date. The first leg of the Hellbilly Deluxe 2 World Tour featured Nekromantix and Captain Clegg & The Night Creatures, the fictional band from Halloween II.Uncle Seymour Coffins, also from Halloween II, hosted the Los Angeles show on Halloween night.
The song, "What?", the first single from the album, starting playing on radio stations October 6 and was released on iTunes October 13.Another new song, "Burn", was released on Rock Band on October 27 as part of a triple pack which also includes the hits "Dragula" and "Superbeast". They were released for Xbox Live. "Burn" was later released as a free download on December 17, 2009 via the band's website.Remixes of Jesus Frankenstein, Werewolf, baby!, What?, and Sick Bubblegum were available as iTunes downloads.
Critical reception:
The album debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 49,000 copies in its first week of release.
Hellbilly Deluxe 2 received average or mixed reviews from critics.
On Metacritic, the album earned a score of 63/100 based on ten reviews. AbsolutePunk scored it at 62%. Allmusic gave it 3/5 stars. Alternative Press gave it 2.5/5 stars. The Los Angeles Times gave it 3.5/4 stars. Kerrang! magazine gave it 4/5 stars. Metal Assault magazine gave it 7/10 stars.

Tommy Clufetos, the drummer on the studio recordings for Hellbilly Deluxe 2, left the band in early 2010 to play drums for Ozzy Osbourne on the album Scream. Clufetos was replaced by Murderdolls guitarist and Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison initially as a touring member. Before joining the 2010 Mayhem Festival,
Jordison joined Zombie, John 5 and Piggy D. to record some new songs.
These tracks were described by Zombie as "some of the fastest and
heaviest tracks we have recorded in a long, long time."John Tempesta, former member of White Zombie
and drummer on Zombie's early solo albums, was going to be featured on a
song called "Loving the Freaks" during these sessions, and Rob Zombie confirmed that working with Tempesta was planned but never took place due to schedule conflicts.
The three new tracks recorded with this lineup, "Devil's Hole Girls
and the Big Revolution," "Michael" and "Everything Is Boring," were
released as bonus tracks on the reissue of Hellbilly Deluxe 2. The updated version was released on September 28, 2010 through Roadrunner Records.
Along with new artwork, the reissue also contains a new version of "The
Man Who Laughs", most notably replacing the original drum solo with
guitars. The intro to "Mars Needs Women" has been separated into the
track "Theme for an Angry Red Planet". Also included is bonus DVD
containing a 30 minute tour documentary titled "Transylvanian
Transmissions."
