God of Thunder   (1989)

God of Thunder

Album Image Gallery

Notes

- Recorded Oct '89 at Chung King House of Metal, N.Y.C.

- Released under the label Caroline Records in October 1989.

- This EP only features one original song, Love Razor. God of Thunder is a cover of the KISS classic and Disaster Blaster II is a reworked version from "Make Them Die Slowly".

- Despite rumors, Gene Simmons of KISS never filed a lawsuit against White Zombie for the cover art. Like many of his generation, it is well known that Zombie is a huge KISS fan.

- Everett True of Melody Maker Magazine gave the EP an enthusiastic and unconventional review, stating, "THIS one kicks some serious ass. I think that's all you need to know." The record has remained popular with fans of the band's later work due to it being stylistically similar to La Sexorcisto.

- On May 31st, 2006, Rob Zombie fronted a supergroup (Zombie, Slash, Gilby Clarke, Scott Ian, Ace Frehley of KISS, and Tommy Lee) at VH1 Rock Honors and performed "God of Thunder".

Audio samples from "God Of Thunder":

- "You wanted the best and you got the best...the hottest band in the world" is from the song Detroit Rock City on the album Kiss Alive II (1977).

- "Hey now wait a minute" is from the movie Head (1968) featuring the voice of Mike Nesmith of the Monkees. The sample is also featured on the soundtrack to the film.

- "Suck on this!" is from the film Taxi Driver (1976).

Audio samples from "Disaster Blaster II":

- "You think that when you die you go to Heaven? You come to us." is from the horror film Phantasm II.

- "Tell Jabba" is from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
